Banff Beavertail 2018

A don’t miss event for us every year has become Banff Beavertail. It is Banff, my favorite place in the world. We had beautiful warm, sunny weather for our weekend stay. The Rimrock Hotel, half way up a mountain, just beside the Hot Springs pool and Gondola treated us like royalty.

Mark Hair and Yvonne Cunningham always get world class speakers. Shelly Mackey from Kansas was hilarious and convinced us we can do anything. Dr. Jan Roberto told us about the rock solid science behind our product. Ron Watkins spoke of exciting developments from head office. Tim Banks told us of how Tower Garden and the fertilizer blends were developed from his experience at Disney Epcot for a proposed NASA Mars Mission.

I was so interested in hearing from Katie Ravey and Luke Wren,  I didn’t get their pictures. I did get point after point of rock solid quotes. My voice and hands were worn out by the end of the weekend.

I took 15 pages of handwritten notes in a weekend. Normally, I can keep up with notes. Not so, this time. It was note after note of incredible information, everyone a pearl that we want to incorporate into our lives and business.

A big part of the attraction of events is the chance to spend time with inspirational team mates. They’ve become our friends and mentors.

Drew Pasay, Team Synergy, Trina & Donna, Danielle Korol and Hazel

We met 3 week old Hazel Pasay who attended nearly every event. We can’t wait to check in with her every year. It’ll be so exciting.

Go for No changed our perspectives

I’ve always been a goal oriented career person. But, I’ve always been in the public sector. Della has been in front end customer service.

Now that we’ve started our own health and wellness franchises we’ve had a lot to learn. We experienced a lot of disappointment until we picked up on a couple lessons.

The first lesson was learned listening to the audio book Go for the No by Andrea Waltz and Richard Fenton. An easy listen with the message, don’t set goals based on hearing Yes, set goals based on hearing No. My example is I used to set a goal of making 3 calls a day. They could be phone calls, emails, text messages, what ever you get the idea until I got 3 people to say Yes to my offer. Since my goal was to hear Yes, I experienced disappointment when I heard No. So much so, I often could not make that next call even though I’d not reached my daily goal. Go for the No taught me to set a higher goal of 20 calls where I heard No daily. Along the way, you hear Yes much more often. Regularly even more than the previous goal of 3 Yes’s per day.

Now instead of disappointment when I hear No, it’s almost elation.

We’ve heard from many coaches that we should not be involved in the outcome. It was not until I heard Go for the No that I’ve been successful in making that separation. That’s the second lesson we’ve picked up.

Fenton and Waltz have teamed with Ray Higdon to develop a sequel called Go for No for Network Marketers. We like the audio book format so that whether in the car or at home we can listen.

It’s one thing to understand a concept, it’s another to put it into practice. You have to get out and talk to people and hear no many, many times until the lesson is understood and applied.

This is not my chart. I found it on the Internet. When I read it I readily agreed with most of these. They are certainly ways to fail at marketing and recruiting. The third lesson we’ve picked up is don’t prejudge people. It’s not your business to decide if a person can afford or is ready to hear you message. Tell your story, let them decide.

I don’t know who succeeded brilliantly the first time out. Here’s some quotes from those who did not give up.

Our First Tower Garden Crop

We’ve been talking about how to improve our diet for the past year. We’ve relied on produce from supermarkets as we’ve never had a garden. We’ve found that produce from supermarkets is quick to spoil, simply doesn’t taste as good, isn’t ripe when harvested and consequently doesn’t contain all the nutrients. There’s no criticism there, Alberta is too cold in winter and a long ways from Florida, California, Texas and Central America where much produce originates.

Our solution is to use an in-door aeroponic growing system from Juice Plus+ called Tower Garden. Since no root vegetables can be grown and the Tower Garden will be inside this winter we’ve started with lettuce, tomatoes and peppers.

We’ve purchased the tomato frame and lights to support our first indoor crop. Water is pumped to the top of the tower and spills down to water the plant. The water is on 15 minutes each hour. The lights are on 14 hours a day. Everything is timed so our daily involvement is really light. We add water to the reservoir, check the pH and add nutrients every weekend.

Best Advice I’ve seen for starting Juice Plus+

Now that I’ve made a commitment to my health & well being …
1. Take fruit capsules in the morning and veggie capsules in the afternoon or evening. Take Vineyard with your highest fat meal.
2. Initially, the Juice Plus+ may have a detoxifying effect (cleansing). THIS IS GOOD FOR YOU. But if it is bothersome (and it does only last a short time),you can back off to  fruit capsules in the morning and veggie later in the day. Nutritionally you need 2 and 2 so work up to that level after your first week. If your diet already includes a lot of fiber, you will likely notice very little in this regard.
3. Take your Juice Plus+ with a full glass of water, preferably chlorine free. Drink it all. You are reconstituting the juice of approximately 3 pounds of fruit in the morning and 3 pounds of vegetables in the afternoon. Part of the detoxifying process involves releasing toxins in the digestive tract which may produce some gas. You can reduce this effect greatly by drinking more water. I KNOW, I KNOW. But water is also good for you and it is recommended for good health that you drink 8 FULL glasses a day.
4. Avoid taking your Juice Plus+ with any caffeine product. You may discover more energy from the Juice Plus+ than you’ve ever had from coffee!
5. To get the maximum nutritional benefit, take Juice Plus+ just before a meal (20 minutes before if you’re trying to lose weight). The enzymes in Juice Plus+ “tell” your body what to do with the food you are eating: to use it, save it or eliminate it. You are a unique individual, so don’t be afraid to experiment with the “whens” and “hows” of your Juice Plus+ plan: You can divide the 4 capsules up throughout the day. If you get too much energy at night from the veggie blend, take it at lunch or divide it up. If you need a “lift” in the middle of the day, take an extra veggie (instead of that candy bar). Or even better, drink a delicious Juice Plus Complete shake! To accelerate the cleansing, take it on an empty stomach 3060 minutes before eating and down it with LOTS OF WATER. If you ever experience heartburn or indigestion from something you eat, try an extra fruit capsule instead of an antacid. If you’re fighting off a cold, haven’t been getting enough sleep, or are under a lot of stress, double up on your Juice Plus+. Just take it.
