Idyllwild is in the mountains south of Palm Desert. The highway has numerous switchbacks. Our guides, the Blackwells recommended we all go in separate vehicles so that no one sat in the back seat. Yes, it was that bad.
The town is reminiscent of Canmore when I was growing up. A resident had a dog that loved to be photographed. He’s remembered as the “mayor” in a statue in the downtown area.
The second favourite was a night of music at the Shops of El Paseo in downtown Palm Desert. Its a weekly event this time of year. Get there early it is very popular and is full most nights. We saw Linda Ronstadt at the Eagles Experience.
