The Williams Lake Stampede Grounds contains the rodeo arena, grandstands, campground and Trail Riders arena and barns. On any day, there’s a good chance of horses being ridden, exercised or trained.
The campground is a popular stopping location for people headed to Alaska and the hundreds of Europeans headed to the Chilcotin. We often find that people book a night then stay longer to take in some of the local attractions.
Just the other day we had a Swiss couple book a night. They were far behind on their schedule due for sight seeing. They found the campground by accident on the weekend high school rodeo was on. She is a horse fan who was also afraid of them. They delayed their departure to take in the rodeo. She was absolutely delighted to get her picture taken with some horses. That kind of story happens every week as people discover the beauty and attractions of the area.
