Della and I are semi-retired. We have a summer contract as hosts of a campground. I am responsible for maintenance and Della the client experience. Our winters are much less active.
For me, last winter I was not active enough. I developed joint issues that made me suspect I needed a knee replacement. But, we started our contract and I found that the activity of maintaining the grounds limbered me up again. It took a while but it did work.
Della works hard at accepting reservations and speaking to guests. While the day is long she doesn’t have a lot of opportunities to move around.
Since our days are so busy, we ate out a lot. That did give us some time away from work but we prefer to eat what we prepare.
We both vowed that things would be different this winter. Our goal is to get more exercise, to drink more water, to eat more fruit and vegetables and to sleep 8 hours a night.
We’re on day 2 of our shred. We substituted protein shakes for two meals and ate a good dinner. We had a delicious honey dill chicken power bowl. I won’t say it’s easy and the first few days are a struggle but there’s no way I’m going to be in the same sad shape next spring.
