Anniversary 2025 in Banff and Lake Louise

We recently celebrated our 16th Wedding Anniversary. We took advantage of the warm weather to book a room in Banff for a trip to one of our favourite towns.

Originally, we planned a room at the Banff Springs but the room quote was over $1000.00 for a room on the mountainside for one night. We’ll still plan to stay at this iconic location but for a more memorable moment.

Still, our room at a location on Banff Avenue suited the purpose. Quite small and quiet and clean. Very acceptable.

The weather for the first day was wonderful with +10 C temperatures. Of course, warm weather meant Chinook winds but having grown up on the hill in Cochrane, I hardly noticed. Della however, always suffers.

We had fun on our night out with drinks at happy hour. Interacting with our table neighbours is something I hardly ever do, but I was in a great mood. Just for the fun of it, I asked a neighbour about a drink he ordered. It turned out to be a bulldog, which apparently is widely offered. It’s a Margarita with a Corona beer balanced on the brim. I don’t need a lot of them, but it was fun.

Weather on day two, turned colder and a bit blustery. We drove up to Lake Louise.
We felt it too cold to attempt the walk up to the Tea House; we don’t know if it was even allowed. Without Nature to enjoy,  Lake Louise offers me little to enjoy. Della hasn’t been there as often, so tried out the stores and found some Pendleton table runners to match our coffee cups.

I forgot to mention the meals at The Keg. Service and food was wonderful.

All said, a memorable couple days in the mountains of Alberta. I did take a few photos but driving and taking in the scenery were higher on my list.
