Can a Meal be Medicine was part of a larger webinar I sat in on a month or so ago.

I learned a saying at a health course years ago that I often use.”Food is just fuel” This helps me control emotional eating. A simple statement that has helped me control emotional eating and also made me consider the type of fuel I’m using.

I read more and more about our gut health. How our microbiome affects our overall health, controls inflammation , chronic disease, and even our mental well being.

There may be a day when diet and nutrition are part of your medical treatment. I see this in more an more articles where Doctors practicing functional medicine are looking at the whole person rather than just the disease.

Research has show there is a link between the microbiome and the brain. That link is also two way. Dr. Mitra Ray says that if you can overcome your cravings for sugar by denying them for just 4 days. After 4 days the bacteria in your microbiome learn to function using other nutrition sources and reduce your cravings for sugar. This has been one of the more significant learning I’ve achieved while on Shred10.

We’ve tried diets, we’ve tried shake products, we’ve tried detoxes and none have produced long term effects for Della or myself.

Why? they were too complex, we had no support, they did not teach us anything. For me, it was all of these reasons.

Then, we heard about Shred10. We focus on 4 simple issues:

  3. eat real foods

By following these steps we learned about the bad habits that don’t contribute to our good health. Best of all we’ve seen results.

Why not delay just a day to avoid the temptations of Easter ham?
Truth is, there can always be a reason not to start on the road to improved health. The trick and the major learning of Shred10 is to be mindful and make good choices.
My second takeaway from Shred10 is to implement a simple change every shred. There are 4 core principles of Shred10:

  1. Eat whole food including Juice Plus+ capsules and complete.
  2. Drink more water
  3. Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night.
  4. Exercise your body nearly every day.

Shred Guidelines
There are some other minor points but think if you implemented just one of the major points every month along with 1 or 2 of the minor points. At the end of 4 months, you’d be a different person.
Common Shred10 Results
So we wish you to have a happy, healthy, Joyous Easter. By all means, enjoy your family and friends. Be mindful of what you eat if you choose to. If you don’t,  do better Tuesday.

We‘ve learned the secret though.  The secret is to keep it up for 4 months straight.
Della and I have tried many diets. None have had long term success except Shred 10. I should start at the beginning though. Watch this from Dr. Mitra Ray and Jake Kelly.

Shred 10 is 10 days of focusing on your health.

  • eat whole food and substitute Complete Shakes for two meals a day. Don’t forget to take your Juice Plus+ capsules as well
  • drink water
  • exercise most days
  • get 8 hours of sleep nightly

Eliminate

  • gluten and diary
  • alcohol
  • caffeine
  • processed foods
  • artificial and refined sugars
  • eating after 6 PM.

We had lots of help with a community, recipe book and guidelines.
Shred 10 is not done just once. It’s a jump start to a healthier life.
Della and I have had some health issues. We want to improve our health and enjoy our retirement. Here’s Dr. Ray again with her reasons for improving her health. She has some excellent information on why water or juice cleanse’s are not the answer.

Shred 10 is for men too. Complete pills have nearly eliminated my gout and Shakes have eliminated my knee joint issues. Here is what other men report.
